Frequently Asked Questions

Are you meeting in person during COVID?

Lipsett Learning Connection relocated to Lexington, Virginia, this winter. At this time all Northern Virginia clients are meeting virtually. This summer and next fall we hope to offer biweekly or monthly sessions in Northern Virginia in-person following COVID-19 safety guidelines.

How has play-based tutoring and DIR/Floortime translated to the virtual environment?

Despite our initial skepticism about meeting with children and families virtually, we have been pleasantly surprised and excited by the growth we have observed in our clients during COVID. For some children, the on-line one-on-one environment work has proven to be less intrusive and more engaging than in-person. This platform requires some creativity and flexibility, but we have been very pleased with the growth we have seen.

What do virtual sessions look like?

We recommend two thirty-minute sessions a week, or three twenty-minute sessions depending on your child’s stamina and engagement. The content of the session varies depending on your child’s goals but can include dancing, playful games, putting together puzzles, pretend, and imaginary play, all with academics embedded. Other students may benefit from a more structured approach. Sessions are adapted to unique needs.

How do you remain safe when meeting in-person?

If you are in the Rockbridge County area we offer in-person sessions. Clients and families are asked to wear masks during these sessions and we conduct outside sessions as much as possible. Materials and surfaces are disinfected after each session.

How do I submit a payment?

Lipsett Learning Connection continues to send an invoice at the end of each month, which can be paid by either mailing a check or through a secure link listed on the invoice.
